Insurance Unit

The Insurance Unit is headed by Glenn A. Kaminska. It is involved with all aspects of insurance issues in all counties in New York and New Jersey as well as the Federal Courts.

The unit is called upon to offer coverage opinions on any issue that may affect a client’s decision making ability. The attorney will assist in drafting disclaimers or reservation of rights letters and take the appropriate steps to protect the client’s interests.

Experience is the keynote in resolving insurance disputes from inception through trial as well as appeals. Brendan Fitzpatrick, who heads the Appeals Unit, works closely with the members of the Unit in pre-appeal issues and with respect to appeals.

We advise our clients on a wide range of topics including notice, disclaimer, trigger of coverage, additional insured endorsements, exclusions, bad-faith claims, claims handling, punitive damages, self-insured retentions, coverage for intellectual property claims, as well as excess and co-insurance issues. Such topics arise in many different contexts, including professional claims, constructions site accident claims, property damage, toxic torts, motor vehicle, and personal lines.

In addition to the representation of clients our attorneys have lectured before bar associations, claims organizations, and claims professionals at various insurance companies and at self-insured organizations. We are proud that our Articles have appeared in various publications including the New York Law Journal.

The attorneys are experienced in handling cases from high exposure property damage and general liability claims to representing individual insured in an effort to obtain insurance coverage.

Although not formally a member of the Unit, but in keeping with the firm’s philosophy of interaction between various disciplines, Henri A. Demers becomes involved in specific instances and lends his expertise gained from his many successful years in this area of law.
