Commercial Transportation

The Unit is extensively involved with intrastate and interstate commercial transportation litigation in the Federal and State Courts. On an intrastate basis, there is representation of local trucking companies and private bus lines and on the interstate basis, our clients include large trucking companies as well as national bus companies.

The involvement ranges from minor motor vehicle accidents to catastrophic type occurrences. We are regularly requested to render opinions regarding coverage and interstate transport of goods issues. Through the aggressive use of summary judgment motions on the issue of No-Fault under New York Law as well as on liability grounds, we have been successful in having cases dismissed in the early stages. Where appropriate, particularly in significant exposure cases venued in some of the counties within New York City with the accord of our clients, there has been extensive use of ADR, which has proved very successful. Because of our geographic diversity, we are able to economically and efficiently represent clients in geographic areas outside the Metropolitan New York area for losses that occur in these venues.
